If i recall my mind, i heard about dickens in one of the novel story of Shakespeare but i m not so sure about them and also was not aware of them on that time.

I just want to share, I read this short book- the whole work criticized Dickens as one of the most arrogant writers of his generation. I just read it, but I do not agreewith it.

Dickens’ characters show great depth because of the added traits, like being believers. They seem to accept without question the existence of God and even the most uneducated and uninstructed characters, like Jo the street sweeper in Bleak House and Nancy the prostitute in Oliver Twist, have heard of Christ and heard enough about his teachings to recognize their fundamental truth and to be comforted by them.

I'm gonna have to catch up online, methinks....'course, Dickens had tons of superfluous characters (serial composition and publication perhaps?) but serial killer? Funny thing about British productions: they love serial killers (heck Helen Mirren did a whole series on 'em), yet the UK has only had a few real ones (unlike these bloody shores).

Claire, Rigaud is a failure as a character in the novel. Dickens never quite figured out what to do with him. or how to fit him into the story. He's not a serial killer, though. The screenwriter has turned him into one in order to add more menace, but Rigaud still seems superfluous...so far. I like what Andy Serkis is doing with the part, though. Great false nose too.

Lance, thanks for this. I caught the last 3/4 or so of the first episode and am watching tonight. It is decidedly gloomy and dark. I'll continue watching though, because I like MPT. The whole bit with the French serial killer confuses me a bit, because I think I missed that part. I think Foy is excellent.
