The Staple Singers in pre renovation Carnegie Hall is truly one of the most memorable auditory experience that I could remember as well. The wonderful, lulling echoes of their voices amidst the heavy hammer striking sounds in the background due to the renovation is like beauty within madness.

I love this record already - some of the songs will literally give you chills. She is "witnessing" history here, and it's very recent history and it's deeply American. I love this record. Buy it.
