    Woah, a bloodless alliance...
  • MaPeel · 1 year ago
Music guys, please name that tune--
  • tomwatson · 1 year ago
    This is a great post - and what a flight-oriented lead-in tonight: Apollo 13!
  • MaPeel · 1 year ago
Some crazy-like foreshadowing of the Apollo program on AMC. WE are not there yet--
  • MaPeel · 1 year ago
Yes, our thoughts are about to take flight. The tipple of choice for this evening---rum and cola, with a hefty squeeze of fresh lime juice.
  • tomwatson · 1 year ago
Ah yes, culture in the suburbs - long may it prosper!
  • MaPeel · 1 year ago
This is a whole new side to the Cooperites---Peggy blowing off a guy because of lousey presentations skills. There's newfound power.
  • tomwatson · 1 year ago
Yeah, and another overhead shot - what's with that, this season?
  • tomwatson · 1 year ago
Wow an exterior of S&C - another sign of a "hit" budget!
  • tomwatson · 1 year ago
I knew that plane was going down - it's wikipedia 1962
  • MaPeel · 1 year ago
Well, that's the actual Flight 1, American Airlines out of Idlewild. All 95 on board were killed
  • tomwatson · 1 year ago
yeah read about it last week...
  • MaPeel · 1 year ago
I'm such an optimist---I only found the successful flights
  • MaPeel · 1 year ago
I don't know if Don should be mentoring anyone on being with the family . . .
  • tomwatson · 1 year ago
    "There's life and there's work" - heavy.
  • MaPeel · 1 year ago
I like that Roger really knows Don, and tries to help him not commit career suicide
  • tomwatson · 1 year ago
Right, some actual character development - that is good.
  • tomwatson · 1 year ago
Who else is lurking - speak up!
  • James S. · 1 year ago
    Check.

Male bonding! Isn't this 10 years too early. Pre Alan-Alda. I don't think so--

    Family Day.

I do remember sitting on the stairs on bridge night.

Cutthroat Bitch wears her sixties very well. Wilson would be happy.
  • MaPeel · 1 year ago
Steed equates marriage with being overweight with a bad haircut. Funny that Betty thinks the cubby married neighbor is happy--

    Not exactly helicopter moms.
  • MaPeel · 1 year ago
    All right Pete!
  • tomwatson · 1 year ago
"...the kind where everybody has a summer house." - good line, followed by the dross of "take off your dress."
  • Teresa · 1 year ago
    I liked that one too.

Any thoughts on what the conflict between Don & Duck is? I thought Don brought Duck in.
  • tomwatson · 1 year ago
Duck is old school, pure business, sell the accounts, cash the checks, make the numbers.
Don isn't exactly a revolutionary himself; but he does see the art of the sale, rather than just the numbers of the sale - and there are times when he's clearly in love with the "story" of the product - or, the brand. Agencies that did "branding" were new in the 60s. The old way was to make your dough by a % of the media buy.
  • Teresa · 1 year ago
Makes sense esp. In light of the scene with Don and the man from Mohawk.
  • MaPeel · 1 year ago
I think Duck came in when Roger had his heart attack, so it was possible he wasn't going to stay once Roger was back. I think Duck is supposed to be a real rainmaker---he's not on the creative side like Don, so he needs to be more cutthroat.

    Time for a refill-
  • Teresa · 1 year ago
    Hmm...
  • MaPeel · 1 year ago
Oh Pete. you little whore. If Don had opened his door to you, you probably wouldn't have done this---
  • Teresa · 1 year ago
    Cold Pete.
  • tomwatson · 1 year ago
Yeah, at least Pete's making it interesting!
  • klg19 · 1 year ago
Maybe, maybe not. Pete's had a harsh relationship with his father all along, and his fatehr was contemptuous of his advertising career, as Pete tried to explain to Duck. And now Pete's not even going to get a cent from his broke father's estate. For Pete to use his father's death to further his own advertising career? Man, that is some sweet revenge.

On another front, I notice that Don no longer calls his wife "Birdie."

The Latin mass - let Pat Buchanan rejoice!
But they've omitted the mantillas that the women would undoubtedly have worn.
  • MaPeel · 1 year ago
Ending with the communion rail and the grandson of Mr. Campbell. The plot does thicken, at its own pace.

Time to return to the 21 century to get ready for the real work week. Good night everyone.
  • tomwatson · 1 year ago
Good night all - i enjoyed the episode, some real corporate plotting, some belief in the characters...
