  Great post on my favorite subject. Goats is an underappreciated record. I think it was Stanley Booth who said that while Satisfaction is generally accepted to be the greatest rock riff amongst most fans, but in reality the real owner of that distinction is Tumblin' Dice. I couldn’t agree more. I remember learning to play that riff for the first time and figuring it out in different tunings and all. You can’t play it without moving you head a certain way. I’ve got to get a copy of this record on vinyl or CD. Let me know if you come across one. While I enjoy B. Jones era stuff a great deal, it’s the Mick Taylor records that get the heaviest airplay at my place.

  So, what's the one great Stones album since the 70s, Fred? I wonder if I have it? I enjoy the Stones, but not with as much passion as you do, obviously, but I'm always up for a good recommendation.

  Howard - the only great Stones record after the early 70s is Some Girls. Shattered, Miss You, Beast Of Burden, and the title track are all Stones classics and the entire record is too.

  One great record since the early 70's? I disagree. 'Black and Blue' is a oft maligned but great record. Why does verybody disrespect Tatoo You?

  Tattoo You IS outstanding, but a lot of it is left over stuff from the late 70s...maybe not a great album, but very, very good....and maybe a great album after all
