Well i think that While this might sound like your typical Sunday afternoon jazz at a distance, or at low volume and it’s a marvelous choice for a Sunday afternoon it’s a lot more than that. It’s best experienced on headphones. Hamilton’s stock in trade has always been subtlety and nuance, rare qualities for a percussionist, and as usual he’s not here to jolt anyone out of their socks. But this album is anything but saturnine: it resonates with a confident, gentle warmth.

The piece reflects the complexity and depth that Charlie Parker rendered, as well as a dual percussion section that lays the groundwork for the band. Charlie Parker was a major influence on Chico showing him depth and levels of rhythm that he never heard before, as well as Chico wanted to reflect Charlie's touch when playing the melody.

I was pleasantly surprised by this very contemporary sound, variety of styles, and avoidance of drum dominance. Every cut has unique instrumentation, rhythm, melody and subtle tones. The musicians in his band, none of whom was I previously familiar with, all excell. This is a fine recording, well worthy of a good listen.
